Getting Started with SDC MUJ

Welcome to the Software Development Centre at Manipal University Jaipur! This guide will help you navigate resources, join projects, and engage with our community.

1. About SDC MUJ

The Software Development Centre (SDC) is a student-driven initiative focused on fostering technical skills, collaboration, and real-world software development experience.

Mission: Empower students through hands-on projects, workshops, and industry exposure.
Domains: Web/mobile development, AI/ML, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and open-source contributions.

2. How to Join

Eligibility: Open to all MUJ students (any year/branch).

Steps:

Register: Fill out the forms circulated on your MUJ email addresses on a regular basis.
Selection: Appear for the selection process, usually an interview
Orientation: If you're reading this wiki, you're probably on that step here! Welcome!

3. First Steps

Once registered:

Set Up Profiles:
- Join SDC GitHub Organization (Contact DevOps Team for the same)
- Join the SDC WhatsApp group (link provided after selection).
Explore Projects:
- Browse active projects on our GitHub Organization.
- Check the good-first-issue labels for beginner-friendly tasks.

4. Resources

Tools:
- Git/GitHub, VS Code, Docker, Figma, VPS

5. Communication Channels

Stay connected:

WhatsApp: For real-time discussions, mentorship, and announcements.

6. Contribution Guidelines

Projects:
- Fork the repository → work on your branch → submit a pull request (PR).
- Tag a maintainer for PR reviews.
- Once reviewed and approved, tag DevOps Team for deployment.
Code of Conduct:
- Adhere to our community guidelines. Respect inclusivity and collaboration!

Q: Do I need prior coding experience?

A: A basic amount of experience is expected, but we welcome beginners and provide mentorship.

Q: Are projects credited for academic requirements?

A: Yes, SDC projects can fulfill internship/credit requirements (consult your faculty and SDC faculty).
